                 Matthew 14:28-29

IV.  Assemble Your own "Clearness Team.
 
     A.  Conduct low-cost probes.
          1.  We may be tempted to jump into commitments too rashly.
          2.  Discerment honors previous decisions and commitments.
 
     B.  A calling often involves pain.
          1.  People sometimes romanticize the notion of vocation.
           2.  As a rule, the people whom we read about in Scripture who lwere called by God felt quite inadequate.
          3.  The first response to a God-sized calling is fear.
          4.  It does mean, thought, that natural talent alone is not enough to honor a calling from God.
 
     C.  Having a career versus having a calling.
          1.  A calling, which is something I do for God,is replaced by a career, which threatens to become my god.
          2.  A career may end with retirement and lots of toys, but a calling isn't over until the day you die.
          3.  Sometimes the end of a career is the beginning of a calling.
          4. Just remember, there is some assembly required.
