Water Walkers: Discerning the Call

Matthew 14:28-29
 
1.  Water-walking requires not only the courage to take a risk, but also the wisdom to discerna call.
 
2.  Peter does not immediately jump out of the boat.
 
3.  Peter is not in charge of water-walking, Jesus is.
 
4.  It is interesting to note that in most self-help books, risk-taking is highly praised.
 
5.  Jesus is not looking for impulse ridden Type Ts. He is looking for Type W, or water-walker personality.
 
I.  Calling:  A Reflection of Gods image.
     A.  God is particularly active in working with people.
     B.  It is using one's endowed giftedness to serve the world with excellence and thought that service, to love and honor God.
     C.  You have a calling, but callings are not always easy to hear.
 
II.  Taking your Calling Seriously.
 
     A.  You are not a spare part.  You have a purpose.
     B.  The place to begin is by taking your calling with the right kind of  seriousness.
