                            Radical Hope
                            Is. 40:31; I Peter 1:1-7
 
Reasons for hope:
 
I.  God chose me before I chose Him.
 
II.  God always treats me with mercy.
 
III. God has secured my future.
 
IV.  God's power will protect me.
     A.  Greek word for protect means continuously guarded by sentry.
 
V.  God is preparing me for eternity.
     A.  3 things about problems:
        1.  Trials are necessary.
        2.  Trials are varied.
        3.  Trials are temporary.
 
     B.  God uses trials:
         1.  To test my faith.
         2.   To purify my motives.
         3.  To prepare me for rewards.
 
Theological terms for the five reasons for hope:
1.  God chose to love me in advance- predestination.
2.  God always treats me with mercy- regeneration.
3.  God has secured my future in heaven and has an inheritance for me- glorification.
4.  God's power will protect me and I can't lose my salvation- preservation.
5.  God is preparing me for eternity- sanctification.
 
I Peter 3:15  "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect".
