Matthew 16:13-24
1. The church is not welcome in this world.
2. Ecclesia means called out ones.
3. The NT knows nothing of Christianity without The Church.
4. The founder of the church is not Peter, it is Jesus.
5. The Church is built on a relationship, not a religion.
6. If we don't get right on Christ, we will never get it right on The Church.
7. Four names of the church:
A. The Church is a body, and Jesus is the Head.
B. The Church is the bride, and Jesus is the Bridegroom.
C. The Church is a building, and Jesus is the Chief Cornerstone.
D. The Church is a brotherhood, and we are children of God.
8. Three key thoughts:
A. There is blessing by confessing the name of Jesus. (vs. 17)
B. There is a promise. (vs. 18)
C. There is power. (vs. 18)
