The Family Revisited

Proverbs 22:1-6
 
I.  What a child learns will be reflected in their adult life.
     A.  Our Scripture teaches us four things:
          1.  Equality.
          2.  Choices.
          3.  Humility.
          4.  Parenting.
 
II.  What a child learns will be reflected in their adult life.
     A.  You can walk in the wrong places, in the wrong way
with the wrong people.
     B.  It is not acceptable to toss our hungry children, starving for a piece of our time, an occasional bite of our time, even if it is  prime time!
 
III.  We teach most effectively by what we are, by who we are.
     A.  We teach by:
          1.  Example.
          2.  The way we communicate.
          3.  Compassion.
 
IV.  The greatest lesson we teach should be about God.
     A.  This will lead us to teach our children about honor and respect.
     B.  Why should we insist on respect?
           1.  It teaches children to honor all authority.
              The health of the family reflects the health of the nation.
     C.  We teach respect when we:
         1.  Love em.
         2.  Limit em.
         3.  Lead em.
