                      Man- Innocent or Guilty?
                       Romans 1:18-32
 
Understood as a courtroom:
     1.  The case:  Is man innocent or guilty before God?
     2.  The charge:  Man has deliberately rejected God.
     3.  The prosecutor:  The Apostle Paul.
     4.  The accused:  All of humanity.
     5.  The defense:  "without excuse"  (21)
     6.  The evidence:  (19-32)
     7.  The verdict:  The death penalty!  (32)
 
I.  The Wrath of God  (18)
     What is it?
 
     Why does God get angry at sin?
 
     Two objects of God\\\'s wrath:
          Godlessness.
          Wickedness:
 
Man is charged with 3 counts of godlessness  (19-23) and 3 counts of wickedness 24-32)
 
II.  Man is guilty  of godlessness.   (19-23)
Paul submits 3 evidences that show that we try to live our lives as though God doesn\\\'t exist:
     vs 19
     vs20
     vs 20b
 
How has man responded to God\\\'s revelation?
     V. 18b
 
     vs21   Two ways:
 
     The results:
    
     vs.22-23
 
III.  Man is guilty of wickedness---vs24-32
      Three times Paul says
         "God gave them over.."   vs. 24,26,28
 
      Meaning:
 
     "wrath of God".
 
God gave them over to three kinds of wickedness:
     1.  Immoral passions (24-25

     2.  Indecent perversions (26-27
 
     3.  Irrational practices   (28-32)
